An Interesting Day

Yesterday felt like it was more like 3 days all pushed into one.

First, I had my follow-up ENT appointment. My doctor looked at my ears and was very much pleased with the progress. I guess the drugs did the trick. He said that my left ear was almost clear and my right ear, which had previously been filled with "fluid", now had some air in it and should heal on its own. So ... no surgery! I'm still in some pain, but only to the extent that some ibuprofin can take care of it or I can ignore it.

That was the easier part of the day.

My sister , Sarah, had graciously driven me to the doctor because we weren't sure if I'd have any drugs in me if they had to do tubes. When we got out to her car, it wouldn't start. This eventuality had been lurking in the background for some time. It started with having to try to turn the key in the ignition more than once because it just wouldn't go. Then it happened more often, and got worse, until the key just wouldn't turn at all.

So we're sitting there in the parking lot, far enough away from our city to make a tow truck very expensive ... Even worse, Sarah is in pain due to shoulder/elbow stuff that she's trying to get fixed. Sarah's getting very frustrated and I'm trying to be supportive. We decide to say a prayer that it will start. She tries a few more times ... and finally ... it starts. Both of us got the feeling that if we turned it off again, there would not be a second chance.

On the way back to the city, Sarah decides that she needs to call her regular physician for some help. She can't get in to see her specialist until the 20th, but she's in so much pain that she just can't wait that long. The doctor fits her in for an appointment at 11:30. At this point, it's 10:15, and we'd have to leave the car on while she was in the appointment. So we get to play ...

Musical cars!! Woo!

When we get home, I take Sarah's car (still running) to go to the dealer, she takes my car to go to the doctor. The dealer has to "see if I can fit it in". Apparently the ignition cylinder was damaged. I sit in the waiting room until my sister is done with her appointment and comes to pick me up. We drive to the pharmacy, pick up her lovely drugs, go home and wait (or sleep, in her case). The dealer actually got the car fixed rather quickly and we were able to pick it up (through rush-hour traffic) before they closed.

Phew!! I think I need to take a nap after just typing this.

I'm so glad that everything worked out even though it was such a nightmare! I'm glad you don't need surgery, Sarah got her appointment in and the car is already fixed! Yay! Teamwork, right?! :) Love and miss you!

Sounds like a crazy day but everything seemed to work out in the end! Hopefully things will calm down for a bit. Glad your ears are better!
